Tagged: malware infection, pageUp, security, security issues
Quite recently, PageUp came across some serious security issues. PageUp observed some unusual on-goings in its IT infrastructure and investigation proved it was a malware infection. The tentative consequences are exposure of user data which also includes account information and personal user information. The five-day investigation confirms after it reached out to HR Software’s 2 million users which are spread across the world in 190 countries. Even though the usernames and passwords were hashed and salted, the exposure of data is suspected to include usernames and passwords too.
The CEO, Karen Cariss, explained that PageUp has been in close contact with some third party specialist for the development of their website. Nevertheless, now the system is secure and users can use the jobs website safely. However, the incident indicates what steps shall companies must take in order to make their systems secure from malware.
